Do your employees know how to identify a phishing scam?

How to identify a scam

Often, scammers attempt to gain your trust and pressure you into what they are asking without you giving it a second thought. Phishing scams are commonly very urgent, demanding calls to action such as claiming you must click now or call now. They are worded to sound urgent or threatening so your instant response is to look further. You will often notice, when receiving a notification from an official company, the official web address is at the top of an email. As well as this, for text messages, the company’s name often appears instead of a number. Always remember, just because the notification is relevant to you, it doesn’t mean it is legitimate. Scammers can evaluate current events happening and plan scams around this to make it believable.

They rely on people not paying attention to the details!

ALWAYS DO

Regardless of whether the email or text looks legitimate, never click and follow a link. Always contact the official company via their email or phone number that will be located on their official website. This way you can enquire about the notification and find out whether there is a legitimate issue that needs solved or not.
