You no longer need to run separate cables or spend extra money on power sockets. Now, we can easily add an IP camera (a camera that connects to your computer network, either wired or wirelessly) to your system, with much lower installation costs.
Wired IP cameras connect via a network cable to your standard network, allowing you to view the footage using software or through browsers like Chrome, Firefox, or even on most smartphones. You can also record directly to your computer, taking full advantage of its storage. With the right network switch, these cameras can be powered through the same cable and can record to a Network Video Recorder (NVR) for easy management.
